His & Hers

Kevin and I had the honor of having our wedding day attire designed and handcrafted by two amazing couturiers, Katie Ermilio and her father Bob Ermilio, a third generation bespoke suit maker. It was a very interesting process and surprisingly detailed oriented. With endless options of lace, silhouettes, length of train, the exact color of ivory I wanted followed with fittings and adjustments all the way up to the wedding day. It was truly an amazing process to be a part of and to understand how much work goes into making garments of this caliber.

The step by step process looks something like this…

A Taste of NY

Having our families come from Texas and Kansas to our NYC wedding we knew we wanted to welcome them with a true taste of New York. I partnered with a company called Samplrs which is an amazing service that sent us the finest up-and-coming local food artisans of New York City to build a welcome basket for all our guests which was waiting for them in the hotel suites. We wanted a mixture of items they could snack on during their stay as well as pieces to take home with them, a little flavor of NY.

PS- You can also buy individual products you discover through them on their website… BUT I WARN  YOU, I got addicted to THESE and we have fashion week coming up!

The Reception

Photography: Kate Murphy / Food & Venue: The Carlyle Restaurant / Flowers by: Amy Merrick  / Cake: Sylvia Weinstock / Dress & Veil: Katie Ermilio / Bespoke Tuxedo:Ermilio Clothiers / Groom’s Bow Tie: Ralph Lauren / Bridal Jewelry: De Beers Swan Lake

A glowing banquet table in a private room overflowing with bouquets of flowers and classic love songs. With slow and relaxed courses we had the ability to live in the moment, to be present with our loved ones and toast to this first meal as Husband & Wife

The wedding cake had the french lace of my dress recreated in the delicate buttercream icing dancing up the sides as a waterfall of my favorite flowers wrapped gracefully down the front. Yeah, yeah, but what’s on the inside? A tier of vanilla & strawberry followed by a tier of chocolate & raspberry. Remember this?

As Time Goes By

It’s still the same old story A fight for love and glory A case of do or die The world will always welcome lovers As time goes by…

High atop the Carlyle Hotel on Mahattan’s UES with sweeping views overlooking Central Park I married my creative partner and best friend Kevin Burg in an intimate ceremony on a perfect summer evening. The pianist filled the room with old jazz standards and so gracefully played As Time Goes By with our first kiss as husband and wife. The sounds of champagne popping and the sweet smell of summer flowers still fill my memory like it was yesterday…

The blessing:

Now you will feel no rain,
for each of you will be shelter for the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
for each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there will be no loneliness,
for each of you will be companion to the other.
Now you are two persons,
but there is only one life before you.
May beauty surround you both in the journey ahead
and through all the years.
May happiness be your companion,
and your days together be good and long upon the earth.
