Belle of the Afternoon~

Pretty as a picture, as romantic as a song… Katie Ermilio’s timeless fall collection —in it’s effortless chic way- is suited for the classic beauty in all of us…

Katie Ermilio Fall 2011 Look Book

From the designerMy inspiration was to further explore the balance between tailored menswear and inherent feminine style. I worked within a saturated palette of bold blues, pinks and reds – color blocking a of line blazers, party dresses, and gowns all underscored by my approach to simplicity and ease. I designed the collection conscious of the fact that the clothes would be arriving in stores in July – mixing up light chiffons with silk failles and wool satins to create a transitional wardrobe that will carry a woman through the seasons.

The Katie Ermilio girl is ageless, something that I learned directly from the source – my own clients. I began my design career creating custom clothes for a private clientele, learning all along the way how my customer wants to feel and what she looks for in clothes. My youngest client is in her teens and the eldest now nearly 80. What I always find fascinating is that no matter what her chronological age, my clients’ tastes and needs are binded by the thread that she wants to feel beautiful in flattering, well made clothing that is timeless in style and effortless in its nature.

A Hudson River Romance~

Way up on the Hudson River line in an old farm house lived a fluttery winter romance around a roaring fire, streaming Dutch window light, and a moveable feast tucked away atop Strawberry Hill…

Coney Island’s Summer Love

“I met her at the Burger King we fell in love by the soda machine

So we took the car downtown the kids were hanging out all around

Then we went down to Coney Island on the coaster and around again

And no one’s gonna ever tear us apart cause she’s my sweetheart …”

Draper’s Girl

The allure of Madison Ave, the glamour of the 1960s, a lit cigarette and old fashioned while New York was overrun with Mad Men.

Inspired by a decade, remembered in a show, Jessica goes back to 1963
