On photo shoot sets I prefer for the music to reflect the mood, theme, and emotion of the story being played out. Like a stage being set, all the players move in and out, their energy wrapping around the room, building until that last instant when all becomes quiet and focused and the moment is eternalized through the eye of the lens.
Post-shoot, I edit to the same soundtrack. The notes bringing to life the images again in that living, breathing, creative world we spend our lives trying to capture. Take a walk with me hand in hand with our imaginations, into Renoir’s garden, the inspiration behind our recent collaboration with Cartier, through the beauty of sound and power of dreams.

My latest project with my frequent creative collaborator Kelly got a little more intimate this time around with a look at one of the oldest lingerie brands, founded in Europe in 1886, Triumph. This project was unlike most of our jobs in the digital age, these image were used in print first, layout designed by Kelly, to be picked up at Journelle stores and handed out at Triumph’s fashion show.
We wanted these images to be a celebration of women, to be feminine but confident, uncovered but in control. We wanted to be inspired at the end of the day to put on some lace and love every curve. Now, doesn’t that sound fun?
Below are our four women, full of their own Triumphs, all from different places in the world and celebrated beautifully in their own skin because confidence is the biggest triumph of all.

In-between shots, while Jessica was waiting for me to finish setting up, I looked over and there she was, just killing time, running her finger around the ardoise diamond faced IWC Portofino midsize watch and I thought there could not be anything more glamorous than lace, winter light, and a black wool coat so casually and effortless resting against a simple white wall…

Updating the classics.
After our day together in New York City I was really taken to the idea of wearing a timepiece and started thinking about how that could integrate into my daily wardrobe from working days to all the holiday parties coming up. I was talking to my friend Laurel about this, who herself has such amazing taste (remember THIS shoot?!), on updating timeless dressing. I loved the idea of wearing a watch; it says a lot about a person, and with the IWC Portofino Midsize I think that says someone who is classic, intelligent, and above all timeless.
But let’s look at timeless dressing.
Laurel and I discussed how to make it more interesting, how to update the standard little black dress, how to do something surprising with a wide leg trouser… so in a sun filled studio on Manhattan’s west side we played dress up with Jessica Wall, with our city shining bright in the background, and spent together that thing that is the most valuable of all: time.
