Fall on the Farm

In the middle of the country sits an old farm house and for as far as the eye can see are the beautiful fall colors fading away the memories of summer. Here in the quiet countryside of Kansas the cowboys are king, the saloons are real and horses are a mode of transportation…

24 Hours in Kansas City

A dash of Spice

I went to my first spice market, Penzeys Spices, a couple week ago in Overland Park, Missouri and it opened a whole new world of flavors and smells. A special Mexican seasoning for black beans, I had no idea. How about Herbs de Provence with actual lavender in it, gimme gimme. Shrimp Boil, I got it. The store had free recipe cards pared with special spices and very reasonable prices. Next time I’ll get bigger quantities than the sample sizes I bought so I can quit hiding them in the cabinet.
