The Volvo Ocean Racing teams battle it out in an in-port race in front of the Abu Dhabi skyline… guess which team I was rooting for
Visiting Abu Dhabi in the UAE on behalf of Puma’s Ocean Sailing
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, built with materials from around the world, is approximately the size of 5 football fields and can hold up to 40,000 worshippers under its 82 domes. Standing on top of the world’s largest carpet and underneath the world’s largest chandelier is an awe inspiring moment of peace and beauty.

Shooting aboard Puma’s Mar Mostro decked out in Puma sailing gear!
They asked me if shooting sailing was different from NYFW, I said no- it is actually exactly the same. There is a great intensity by all involved and I become completely invisible to them which allows me to dance in their world capturing the journey, experience and beauty of the true moment. From backstage at runways to the decks of world class sailboats, the story is the life and history that is happening and being created and my job is to capture a moment in time before it sails away in the sunset.
Puma’s Mar Mostro sail boat, one of the fastest in the world, being moved by wind and sailors for the Volvo Ocean Race.
Walking aboard Puma’s Mar Mostro, the swiftest sail boat in the world manned by the world’s very best sailors, is nothing short of exhilarating. This handmade carbon fiber boat can soar faster than the wind as these 5 teams battle in the most competitive and longest ocean race around the world. Spending the day out to sea with these guys was exhausting, I have no idea how they run this boat so intensely 24 hours a day for up to 30 days straight.
Tomorrow they leave port and head out to sea on the next leg of the Volvo Ocean Race…
