If you’ve been following along on our instagram you know by now we are in Paris! Some very special things have already been happening, including picking up decorating tips from the oh so iconic Coco Chanel. Speaking of CHANEL… today is their spring / summer runway show which I am anticipating to be a sparkling spectacular! spectacular! Yet another amazing entity in this already dazzling city of lights…

Recently we enjoyed a dinner party out in the country, drinking wine provided by our friends at Ecco Domani, and spending time catching up with the people we love. As we grilled, chatted, and relaxed in each other’s company, the soft and subtle sounds of the playlist below served as a perfect complement to the meal.
Below is our summer & wine playlist – as we head into the weekend, we hope you spend it with the ones you love, share a bottle of wine, create new memories & make the most of this glorious season…

There is nobody hotter right now than Emily Ratajkowski, which made her a perfect fit to be the face of REVOLVE‘s new makeover of their trendy fashion shopping site. We flew out to L.A. this past January to shoot a Cinemagraph of her for REVOLVE at MILK Studios.
As a photographer and someone who does not play by the 9-to-5 rules you never know when you’re going to get a call like this, an aspect of the job I love. One minute we are out in the country and two days later, we’re on the West Coast for only 24 hours, jumping on airplanes, walking onto sets or locations you cannot anticipate and being challenged to create something in 30 minutes or less. Of course it can sometimes make planning family vacations tricky and I’ve had to cancel many dates with friends last minute, but that’s what happens when you love what you do.
Sometimes you have complete control of the shoot and vision but other times, the vision has parameters within the client’s needs. We were given our subject, a white studio, one light and very little time. I asked to see the new website design and drew inspiration for our cinemagraph off the cleanness, simplicity, contrast and above all youthful cool vibe of REVOLVE’s new look.
We all know Emily is major sexy so I wanted to hint at that with an open leather jacket on bare skin but I also wanted her to have a relaxed James Dean coolness. We propped her up against the studio cyclorama, I framed her in a landscape pose to fill the hero spot of the website design, and had her move around a bit until she started naturally playing with her ripped up jeans and then a gaze to the camera and we were done.
I want to be that cool, that confident, that sexy, that girl… just like REVOLVE is making possible.

“I always sketch at fashion shows. Drawings jog my memory more than any photograph… My system at the shows is to draw, sketch, put down everything – every single outfit – and worry later whether I liked it or not.”

Shooting the former editor of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld, for her newest endeavour CR Fashion Book as she looks out over Manhattan, almost as if she is looking forward to taking over this city as she has done to Paris. In addition to being one of the most influential fashion editors, creating iconic imagery that defines who we are in life and where we are going, she is also glamorous and French and beautiful. When starting CR Fashion Book, she said:
I will always be irreverent in my own way, but I will try to use new approaches…I will try to do something totally different now, because I don’t want to get bored of myself or to bore my readers. So, if I learn something new today, I will use it. I have to reinvent myself.
Grab a peek of me shooting Carine here and revisit a night to remember in Paris here…
Carine Roitfeld, editor of Vogue Paris from 2001-2011, starts a new chapter and launches CR Fashion Book. We spent a gorgeous afternoon with her atop The Standard, East Village with just enough time leftover to enjoy the view.
Yesterday we hung out at the US Open with Ralph Lauren (who you know I’m a huge fan of…) and experienced the world of tennis with all it’s intensity, speed and competition… oh and let’s not forget the cute outfits!
Spring is here! Time to dance to the music… have a carefree weekend!
